Minutes from June 4, 2008
Sarah opened the meeting and led us in “A Time of Centering” from the UCC Vitality prayer network. We agreed that we would pass around responsibility for devotions among members.
Minutes were corrected: Rollie was added as ex-officio.
Green Notebook
Sarah urged us to get acquainted with the “green notebook.” Sections 3 and 4 have now been downloaded. Section 5 is for Trustees – deals with pay packages. Pages are marked 3-1 to 3-19 for section 3, with the rest of 3 resources for devotions. Resources are also listed at the end of each section. Included are a commissioning service (3R1-1?) and a list of five commitments for Search Committee members (R 15-1?).
Commissioning
We decided that the Search Committee members should be listed on the FCC web. The commissioning should take place soon, within the next two Sundays.
Search Committee Covenant
This is in 3R2-2. FCC has a covenant (mission statement) also, plus vision statement which we should keep in mind as we do our work.
Communication (3-7)
Sarah showed us the “search and call progress poster.” We decided, rather than post it permanently (partly because different steps move very slowly), to mount it on a tripod and put it up occasionally, especially when a new step has been taken. At those times we should leave it up for a couple of weeks.
Congregational updates – an initial letter (suggested on 4-1) should be sent out soon. Much discussion ensued, but I think we agreed it could go into the Colony. Updates can also be sent in an “Epistle” type letter with snail mail to those without e-mail. Bulletin inserts can be used on a regular basis (not every Sunday).
